FAQ
So, what’s this site about, anyhow?
The Food Safety Smart Project is a friendly guide to eating safe and living well. More specifically, I’ll be updating this site with up-to-date food safety news. I shall also write articles with practical tips on eating safely, and articles that explain food microbiology and food science research in simple, easy to understand language.
Do you have a background in food safety?
Yup! After receiving my B.S. in Food Science concentrating on food microbiology, I worked as a food microbiologist, looking for harmful germs like E. coli in food. I have also worked or volunteered at various university research labs that focused on food microbiology, and interned at a small meat processing facility monitoring it for Listeria bacteria.
My experiences have given me a real passion for food science and food safety, which led me to entering a M.S. program in Food Science focusing on consumer food safety, and now, to writing this blog!

A former food microbiologist, Ho Phang is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Food Science. When he's not knee-deep in his research and studies, Ho reads and writes about food safety, tends to his various online projects, and cooks.
